We currently have an opening for a Superintendent in our Construction Department to work in our corporate office located in downtown Fayetteville, N.C. Positions will require travel up to 50% of time in the US and internationally. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing management to the team, including work schedules, project progress, and resource allocation. Security Clearance: current Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance

 Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the supervision of all field activities related to the project’s physical construction
  • Controls all aspects of the project site to safely achieve the final design, with strict adherence to requirements/standards (quality, environmental, site-specific) within the contract schedule
  • Direct point of contact for safety, enforcement of all safety regulations and policies, and will often be the projects site safety office
  • Oversees total project supervision to ensure budget and schedule are met and the project is completed as per design requirements
  • Plans weekly project activities and provides direction to the subcontractors on the work to be performed with direction from the Project Manager
  • Participates in scope reviews of various bid packages to coordinate interfaces and ensure nothing has been missed
  • Ensures all subcontractors, material purchases, submittals, deliveries, clarifications, and changes are properly and timely coordinated with the project team and comply with the contract requirements
  • Generates, secures, or otherwise confirms all information needed to create, monitor, and modify the progress schedule on a continuing basis
  • Aids project team in the development and monitoring of metrics to track actual versus required performance by all parties
  • Ensures compliance with SSU Standard Operating Procedures

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Current active US Passport (required)
  • Candidates must be able to meet the standards required to obtain and hold a Secret or Higher US Government Clearance
  • Possess a a minimum of 3 years of related skill, knowledge or experience in construction practices
  • In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal construction regulations
  • Ability to work with minimal oversight to maintain strict compliance with design, follow procedures and schedules, and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with others
  • Ability to analyze problems and make sound decisions in a timely manner
  • Experience with cost and schedule reporting and management
  • Effective professional oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to read, understand and apply information obtained from blueprints, surveys and job specifications
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Software experience (preferred)
    • MS Office, Primavera P6, MS Project, RMS, Prolog, Bluebeam, Smartsheet
  • Certifications (preferred)
    • Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) w/30 Hr OSHA, Construction Surveillance Technician (CST)
