Strategic Advisor
General Andrew P. Poppas (U.S. Army, Ret.) is a senior executive advisor and former four-star general with nearly four decades of leadership experience operating in complex, high-stakes global environments. He retired in 2026 as the 24th Commander of United States Army Forces Command, where he led more than 750,000 soldiers and Army civilians, overseeing global readiness, modernization, and force deployment.
Over the course of his career, he led organizations at every level, from combat units in the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions to senior leadership roles in the Pentagon. As Director of Operations (J3) and Director of the Joint Staff, he coordinated and synchronized the Joint Staff to enable global military operations, strategy, and crisis response, ensuring integrated support to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the nation’s senior leadership.
A seasoned combat leader, his leadership experience spans large-scale operations, joint and multinational coordination, organizational transformation, and talent development. He brings a practical understanding of risk, decision-making under pressure, and leading complex organizations through periods of change.
General Poppas is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Poppas Advisory Group, where he advises companies, investors, and leadership teams across the defense, national security, energy, and emerging technology sectors.
He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, holds a Master of Science degree from Kansas State University, and has completed a fellowship at Harvard University and advanced studies at the Defense Language Institute. He and his wife, Beth, reside in Arlington, Virginia.
